Meet Chris
Having grown up in Gainesville, Florida as the son of a University of Florida professor, Chris Doering is a lifelong Gator. Chris was a standout scholar and exceptional athlete at Gainesville’s P.K. Yonge Developmental Research School.
He graduated in the top ten percent of his class and earned all-state honors in football, basketball, and baseball. When his Blue Wave basketball team captured the state title, he was awarded the MVP of the Class 2A basketball tournament.
To top off the glory of his high school days, Chris set his sights on his lifelong dream was to play wide receiver for the Florida Gators, but his chances seemed discouraging after graduation. Initially, the Florida coaches decided against granting him a scholarship, and instead, offered him preferred walk-on status. Undeterred, Chris committed to the team with hard work and perseverance, and eventually, he not only earned a scholarship but also went on to achieve one of the finest careers in the history of the University of Florida and the Southeastern Conference.
Following his collegiate career, Chris battled through ten years of ups and downs in the NFL, where he played for five teams during his professional career. Upon his retirement from the NFL in 2005, Chris returned to his hometown of Gainesville, where he raised his two kids, Taylor and Tyson, and founded Chris Doering Mortgage.
In addition to owning the mortgage company, Chris is very active throughout the Gainesville community with his work with many charitable organizations and a robust professional speaking schedule that takes him all over the nation. He is also utilizing his degree in telecommunications from the University of Florida and experience in broadcasting in his role as a college football analyst with ESPN and show host on SEC Network.
Chris prides himself on his roles as a leader for his mortgage company staff and most importantly strong personal relationships with clients. He draws his greatest satisfaction from providing the best solutions for mortgage customers while cultivating a successful and enjoyable working atmosphere for his team.
